A Typical Day

Hatchlings (Nursery)

A typical day at Hatchling pre-school…

  • 9:00Enter the preschool, self-register and start playing with the activities available within the room
  • 9:15Sit on mat for teacher led good morning routine – finding out who is in today, thinking about the number of boys, girls, days of the week and any special activities for the day
  • 9:20Talk time
  • 9:30Time to play
  • 10:20Snack time (free fruit and milk are available daily)
  • 10:30Adult led maths time
  • 10:40Time to play inside and outside.
  • 11:45Gross motor control time. Dancing, following movements to music.
  • 12:00Go home or get ready for lunch.
  • 12:15Lunch time. Enjoy a hot cooked meal or bring a packed lunch.
  • 12:45Lie down and rest/nap time (Children can nap for however long parents wish)
  • 1:00Quiet, busy activities
  • 1:30Yoga
  • 1:45Time to play inside and out.
  • 2:45Adult led story, nursery rhymes, singing time
  • 3:00Home time

* This is a typical day however on a Tuesday afternoon we are very lucky to have specialised Multi skills sessions led by PE expert and music led by a specialised teacher.

* On a Friday we cook with the children as part of Chef of the week. Learning about foods from other countries.

* When children are involved with ‘time to play’ sessions, key workers play with the children, or work with small groups or individuals on the next steps of their learning.

Lapwings (Reception)

A typical day in our Reception class…

  • 8:50Drop off
  • 9:00Funky finger activities to develop fine motor control
  • 9:15Sit on mat for teacher led good morning routine – finding out who is in today, thinking about the number of boys, girls, days of the week and any special activities for the day
  • 9:30Phonics
  • 9:45Choose own learning
  • 10:20Snack time Free fruit available every day (free milk available until the child turns 5)
  • 10:30Outside playtime with rest of school
  • 10:45Adult led Maths session
  • 11:00Choose own learning inside or out, while adults work with small groups of children on literacy or Maths focused activities
  • 11:45Dough disco and handwriting
  • 12:15Lunch time – enjoy a free hot cooked meal or bring a packed lunch
  • 12:45Outside play with rest of the school
  • 1:15Yoga
  • 1:30Choose own learning inside or out while small group focused activities are led by teacher
  • 2:45Assembly
  • 3:00Adult led story – singing or show and tell
  • 3:15Time to go home
